In July 2014, Raymond Kagumire, Founder (NFS Uganda), got to know a Swedish technology Executive, Ulf Stenerhag. Ulf had a desire to expand his brand “Not For Sale Ale”(Crafted Beer) against human trafficking but Raymond together with other Brand ambassadors realized a need to establish the Not For Sale Uganda (NGO) fighting against Human Trafficking and Modern Day Slavery to increased cases of Human trafficking in Uganda most notably Ugandans being trafficking the middle East.
Through the support from Not For Sale, we established Not for Sale Uganda in December 2015.
Currently, Not For Sale Uganda, Not For Sale International and Not for Sale Ale are working closely to establish Dignita Restaurant in Kampala to provide culinary training and economic opportunities to human trafficking survivors and at risk individuals.
About Not For Sale
Not For Sale fights modern-day slavery around the world using business creation, supply chain evaluation and social services around the globe. By identifying impoverished and vulnerable communities, Not For Sale works to empower each against exploitation.
ln 2007, Prof. David Batstone discovered that his favorite Bay Area restaurant had been the center of a local human trafficking ring. After further investigation, he realized this was part of a growing international issue spanning every industry and corner of the earth. From there, Not For Sale–both the organization and his 2007 book under the same name–was born. The organization has expanded to corners around the globe since then. Today, Not For Sale fights modern-day slavery by evaluating mainstream supply chains, offering social services to survivors, and creating enterprise opportunities for vulnerable communities. By identifying impoverished and high trafficked communities, Not For Sale works to empower each against the rising tide of exploitation.
